how many miles does the sr20 have on it, if its in good condition, u could prolly sell the prelude, buy the 240, and still have enuff left over for a turbo from nismo

Yes, I would sell the prelude and buy the 240. Although the prelude is a really good car, I'd still buy the 240. RWD, plus with a few "bolt ons" you can easily have 300-350+hp. The following is directly from www.unstable-hybrids.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lots of people want that 300HP number, but the harsh reality at this level is this: engine management is needed to get there safely. By this we mean ECU, 550cc injectors and MAF. Multiple options: JWT sells a setup, it runs around $1500. Also TOMEI sells stuff in that price range. On top of that, some type of upgraded turbo would be needed. If you got T3/T4 you will need a manifold or buy something that bolts in place of the stock stuff (T28 off S-14 would do pretty good) however to break the 300HP level your going to have to go to a larger turbo and upgrade all of the other stuff to handle the power and not sacrifice the bottom end in the mean time.. Cost: $9000 (estimate) this will get you in the ball park of what you. re looking to spend to get to this point. Most people at this point will agree with the amount for the estimate. Keep in mind that the $9000 includes a full setup, motor and all the bolt-ons . ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most SR's dont even have more than 50K miles on them so go for it...you can beat down on all the Honda's once you get your Silvia!

SR20DE
- the 200SX SE-R engine (USA) that produced 140HP NA - the Silvia Q's engine (JPN) that produced 160HP NA SR20DET - used in the Silvia K's (JPN) creates either 205HP, 220HP, 250HP (depending on year) - used in the 200SX (UK & AUSTRALIA) to create 205, 220HP, 250HP - used in Pulsar GTi-R and in the Bluebird to create the same 205HP (I believe) |

He most likely does have a Japanese SR b/c in Japan cars loose their value so quickly...after about 3 years or so cars are worth nothing...you'd get like $500 US bux for your car...that's why our armed forces guys love it over there b/c they can pick up a Skyline for like $500 US bux and have fun...too bad it's harder to bring them over here legally. MotoRex does it...but it cost money!

I would sell the 'lude and buy the 240, first off 'cause I'm a Nissan man. But also the SR20DET is a very solid engine and responds very well to mods. Also there are tons of aftermarket products for the 240 both domestic and overseas. The 240 has plenty of petential and is a very fun car, go for it

not fair, even like the fairly new skylines only cost 20000 us and the evovii is like low 20000s out the factory, those japs have all the fun.

What are you talking about?
The only real Skyline is the R34 and they go for 53-55K in Japan...here in the states they cost 89K. If you want an R32 (30K) and R33 (50K)...then that's alright too. But dont start calling the G35 a Skyline...NO WAY! Until they bring the GT-R model...it's not a Skyline... |

G35...not a true Skyline...lacks the inline 6 and turbo nature.

well the S13 with a SR20DET swap would be about the same speed at a drag strip if both were stock. but the 240sx would out handle it and you would need to invest alot less money in the SR20DET to get horsepower out then the H22

Well yea, since the SR is turbo'd and the H22 is NA.but i'm not to sure about the being even on drag strip. The H22 is a poweful motor with V-tec kicking in somewere around 45-5000 RPM, which is just amazing to listen to.Plus with the redline being at 9000rpm, nothing could get much better then that.
My brother runs an 88 4WS prelude with an H22A swap along with ecu and a custom turbo setup from XS.He let me drive the car once, and man when u shift at redline, I got such a rush watching the RPM rise quickly up to 9 again for another shift and feeling that crazy boost from the turbo.I've raced him in my fast-back and lost horribly, by a good 2 seconds on the strip.I ran somewere around a 13.9@121 while he ran a [email protected]e were on street tires, i think hes run a low 10 with slicks and his boost up at 15lbs. I am a big fan of nissan, but am also a fan of the prelude.Me personaly, would go for the 240, just cuz from the experiance i've had with mine. But if you have the money to spend, stick with the Lude and please don't rice it, make it a sleeper or go all show. |
