help. need instructions oh how to change engine
Can someone tell me how to remove the engine from a 300zx. Taking out the engine is not hard for me the only thing that I have never done is separating the transmission from the engine before taking the engine out. I know im supposed to remove the transmission bolts from the transmisson. My question is, is there a certain procedure Im supposed to follow when taking it out in order to avoid any problems. Aslo how do i reach the top trasmission bolts to take them out. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Re: help. need instructions oh how to change engine
Walk through:
I've done this before, it's not hard. 1st: You'll want to remove the hood. 2nd: Remove fuel feed lines, EFI connectors, Intake hose's, radiator hose's, anything that can hold the engine down. 3rd: Get under the car, 2 bolts on each exhaust mainfold (leading to main pipe) remove those 4 bolts. 4th: Get the cherry picker on the the engine now. 5th: Remove the drive shaft from the transmission output. 6th: Remove the transmission mounts 7th: Remove engine mounts The whole weight will be on the cherry picker now, so be carefull with those last few. Yank out the whole assembly. And remove the transmission when the powertrain is out... I beleive this to be easier. Any other opinions? -Wes
