Re: Type of Engine

Aluminum, depending on how well the engine is built.

Best of the best:beryllium alloy used a while ago in F1 then banned.

But as far as regular materials are concerned, for high boost aplications a closed deck iron block is generally prefered since its stronger. However it comes with a weight penalty and cooling deficiencies compared to an open deck aluminum block.

For NA aplications AL should do the trick.

Re: Type of Engine

steel block w/ aluminum head tends to work pretty well.

also you gotta consider size of the engine because you'll pay more in weight and cooling for a 8-cyl aluminum block than a 6-cyl steel one.

Re: Type of Engine

yo dawg, i have da carbon fiber block with type-r red v-tec engraved into da head.........sorry, felt like doing that.

anyways, as far as technology has gone, i think aluminum is the best material now. we have made it stronger and it is lighter, best of two worlds.
