Ya, so i got an 88 civic wagovan, 1.6l, 5 speed manual. and my clutch is compleatly fuq'd. Can someone give me info/a link as to how i'd go about replacing that bad boy in my driveway. A friend is gonna loan me an engine lift. but is that all i need to do? Yank the engine out and replace the clutch disk?

Re: Driveway Clutch replacement
have the helms manual with you. that's your most important tool.

Re: Driveway Clutch replacement
don't pull the engine. just raise the car up, unbolt the tranny while its got a jack under it, then lower the tranny down, change the clutch, then reverse. basically.

Re: Driveway Clutch replacement
When we put a new clutch/flywheel/pressure plate in my buddys '99 EX we just unbolted the tranny and dropped it. Make sure you use the clutch alighment tool...it makes everything a lot easier when its going back together.

Re: Driveway Clutch replacement
i gotta say there are many ways to do it. you can pull the engine, but i suggest only so if your interested in cleaning the block or swapping out other things while your at it. I've done a clutch swap boths ways and i personally would pull the motor out becase if your by yourself its easier to get the trannie to mate with the block while the entire motor in out of the car. But if you have a friend or 2 helping you out, you wont have a problem with leaving the motor in the bay and dropping the trannie alone. I droped the trannie along and had a hard time getting it to mate by myself. askled a friend to go under and bench it while i lift and aling and in 5 mins it was done. so if your all along, pull it alll out and clean up your bay and block while your at it, even pull out the intake manifold / stripe it and clean all that black $hit outt of it. ...
to make things easier on you, crack the wheel knockle hub bolts while the car is on the floor (should be the first thing you do) unless if you have an impact gun. |

Re: Driveway Clutch replacement
hey take a look at this site.... you can use a lot off of it for referencces::
http://www.honda-acura.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=125370 look at the 92-95 helms manual, you can reference from it, dropping a clutch is pratically the same on most hondas, just ceartain things may be different. |
