Carbon fiber hood?

Does anybody know of anywhere that makes a carbon fiber hood for a 95 grand am se? I was looking rather briefly today but couldn't find one. I want a real one, not just the carbon fiber stuff you put on your existing hood.

Re: Carbon fiber hood?

nope, no one makes a CF hood for the 92-95 GA nor do they make one for a 96-98. But RSM and importfan do make one for the 99+

putting vynal on your hood to make it look like a CF hood. Just like taking exhuast pipe and putting it on the side of you car to make it looke like you have side exhuast, and then you still have your stock exhuast.

Re: Carbon fiber hood?

ah, theres a kid that put a dummy exhaust on the other side of his car, so it looks like he has twin rear exhaust. Its rather funny cuz everyone knows thats what he did.

anyway, anyone know a place i can put in a custom order for a CF hood, without having to order like 10 or so?

Re: Carbon fiber hood?

Well unfortunately there is no difference between a fake carbon fiber hood and a real one unless you stock hood wieghs 50 lbs and mine dont more like 10 lbs stock. What is the big deal , some films you can buy polish up nicer than real carbon fiber anyways. Besides 90% of the people who havem dont take care of them right and get spider webs all over it.

You hood weights nowhere near that much. try 30lbs
(could be a little more little less, but not 10lbs) or so. and the 99+ CF hood weights something like 15lbs

Re: Carbon fiber hood?

Heres the thing I was getting at , 15 pounds is next to nothing , barely a difference there on a 3000 lbs car. I wouldnt use carbon fiber , your earlier comment about rice was pretty accurate but only an opionion , I happen to share with you. But if you wanna save 500 bucks and you are decent at tinting windows you could film it and no one would ever know. Besides who would pay 6-700 bucks on something worth only 120 unpainted? 300 painted? Mere suggestions for those who dont want to spend money like a rich kid and it works.
