Should I buy it?? (2002 Silverado 2500HD)

Hey guys/gals!

I am currently looking at buying a newer truck.

The truck that I am looking at, is as follows:
- 2002 Silverado 2500HD LS Crew Cab, Short Box
- Duramax/Allison
- ~96,000 km
- Old oil work truck (wood box liner)
- Pretty good condition
- Sounds very tight still on test drive
- dealership asking ~$35,000 CAD (but are open to my offers)

I am very interested, but I am looking for insights on this and maybe some issues I should be looking for??

Please reply with you thoughts!

Cheers!

I think it would be hard to go wrong buying a Chevrolet, but that may be too much money for a work truck. I would stay away from trucks that have been used specifically for work. My friend recently bought a 2001 Silverado 2500 5.3 Vortec 4x4 4-door (not crew cab) with 26,000 miles for $19,500, and it is in excellent condition.
I realize this truck you’re looking at is Diesel and Crew cab, which raise the price, but it is a truck only 2 years old with over 90,000km (about 60,000 miles?) for $35,000. I may be overlooking something, but it sounds kind of steep.
I wouldn't pay much attention to the year of the truck if it’s a newer model truck, just the mileage.

hey, what are you doing, don't buy a 2500 buy a 3500 non-work truck for the same money and in much better shape then any vehicle that comes out of the oil fields. If your going to 3/4 ton just go 1 ton.

Re: Should I buy it?? (2002 Silverado 2500HD)

ok, here's the skinny.... if you are lookign at a 3/4 ton truck, get the 2500hd, it can pull more and tow more than a 3500 hands down. however, if you are just getting it for the daily drive kinda thing, beware... brake parts are not cheap for that truck. ALSO.... being a duramax.... they are very likely to have injector problems with them, as we have done a fair aount of them at our dealership. the transmission tho... is a good buy. there are ways to get the history of warranty work doen to the trucks/cars that you are buying. just go in and ask the dealer for a print out.... ask for the print out from "gminfonet" thats will giev you the history of "warranty" work done.
