Basic Lowering Questions, plz help!
I would like to lower my 2000 GT. These are my questions:
1. What equipment should I look into. 2. What's a safe lowering distance. (2"?) 3. How much will it cost me after parts AND labor? Thx for your time and help! |

I lowered my 89 gt 1.5 inches and the bottom scrapes on speedbumps and such a bit, so i'd say 1.5 is good, i wouldn't go much further than that. But then again the newer stangs might be a bit higher up..not sure though. Umm...Tools...A spring compressor will make the job a lot easier, but the job can be done with just normal tools and sort of force the springs out (it's harder and more dangerous though). The springs ran me up about $215 Canadian and me and my dad did it, so there was no charge for labour. Don't base everything on what i say though, get other opinions too, hope this helped.

o very nice. So all I need to buy is springs? Not shocks as well? Or c/c plates? or a strut bar?

I lowered my 98gt 1.5 inches.........My biggest mistake was not getting Camber caster Plates..(180-250$) and the most impotatnt part.........A Bumpsteer kit!!!! (150-200$)
Without these additions you will have terrible steering problems and your front tires will wear in a few months! I got a progressive rate spring kit.not even sure what brand...lol here is a couple of place's that can help you out... www.summitracing.com www.brothersperformance.com cal-mustang.com Call Brothers and they will be very helpfull.. wow, thx for the advice.
So pretty much, after labor and costs of parts, I'm looking at a grand easy? That's how it looks to me. Am I in the right ball park? How much did your drop cost u overall? |
