Car is idling funny...need help???
Hey guys,
I've been noticing that once my car warms up, it's starts to idle funny. It would go from around 900 rpms then drop to around 500 then back to 900 then 500...etc etc... Then when I turn on my headlights, it goes from 500 to 300...etc... And it just keeps going and going...sometimes, it almost feels like the car's gonan stall... So, what could be causing this?

Re: Car is idling funny...need help???
i agree, sounds like your alt is not charging correctly, get yourself a voltmeter and measure it while the car is on, the reading should be around 14-14.5v

Re: Car is idling funny...need help???
Ok, so I bought a volt meter from radio shack and tested both the battery and alternator. Battery is measuring at 12.0 volts and the alternator at 14.0 volts. So it looks like those two are ok. I also checked all the plugs and only one of them wasn't gapped right. So I went ahead and gapped it to .039. The rest were gapped fine. Also, I checked the cap and rotor and those looked good too. But the car is still idling weird. Any other suggestions??
When I got the swap, the plugs, cap and rotor were all replaced. The only thing that wasn't replaced was the spark plug wires. Could that be it? I also checked the aif filter and it looked pretty dirty. I went ahead and replaced that too. I have an appointment with the ref this Tuesday and I don't want anything to go wrong. I hope this doesn't cause my car not to pass. Any other suggestions is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Car is idling funny...need help???
i think a friends was doing that before and it was something to do with like air fuel leak. i could be wrong but they tighten some bolt up like that and it stop jumping back and forth
