Strut or Shock

I just had a run in with a dealership regarding the struts/shocks on my 02' Trailblazer. The problem is that Struts are covered under the Major Guard Warranty but Shocks are not. I have a blown left front Strut/Shock and when I had the dealer look at it he told me that it was covered and that the part would be in the next day and he would fix it. They called me back the next day and told me that the part was not covered under my warranty because it is classified as a shock. I said, "I thought you told me it was a blown strut." He replied, "It is a modified shock that just looks like a strut and it is over $400 to fix it." I was thrown. My questions is this, Do 2002 Chevy trailblazer's have Struts or Shocks. I told the dealer that it was basically a $400 dollar question because if it is a strut I'm not paying.

Thanks

Derrick

Struts on the front and shocks on the back. They are really the same thing except for how they are bolted to the vehicle. Shocks are held on with two bolts, top and bottom. Struts are a little more complicated but they are basically the same thing. Most aftermarket warranties do not cover them as they are considered a maintenance item much like brakes and belts.
