turbo recommendation

I am definately going to turbo my KA24DE in the very near future. Its going to be a budget job for drag racing/street driving and I kinda need some guidence on what size(turbo) to get. I'm considering a T3/T4 with a compressor wheel at .57 trim and .50 ar and a turbine at .63 ar. I plan on running about 6lbs everyday and at the track. I don't want to go too far so I can avoid having to do internal work. I just want to get a system that can do 6 easily and can be reconfigurated to do more later if I ever rebuild. Any suggestions or questions are welcome. Thanks

Re: turbo recommendation

what my brother uses on his del sol is a turbonetics t3/t04B turbo which I bit bigger than the E series one and he and I notice a much better response than the E one so I suggest the t3/t04b turbo. ohh and another thing do you have your bottom end rebuilt?

Re: turbo recommendation

No I haven't had the money to rebuild it. Compression is at 160 across the board and I only plan to run 5-6 lbs.

A good turbo shop should be able to show you the flow maps of various turbos in their various trims and ARs. They should also be able to closely estimate your pressure ratio and air flow requirements; if they can't tell me your mods and I can. Put a dot on the turbos' flow maps where your pressure ratio and air flow lines intersect then pick the turbo that has the most efficient island where your dot is. Instead of using a small trim/small AR on a big turbo wheel, look for a big trim/big AR turbo with a small wheel that has about the same flow map. This will give you peak boost at a much lower rpm with even boost up to redline.

Re: turbo recommendation

Thanks, thats exactly what I was looking for. The only problem is I don't know of any turbo shops around my area. I'm close to Gainsville,Fl so I guess I will have to go to Tampa, Jacksonville, or Orlando. My mods are in my sig.

At 6 psi your air flow should be 20.42 LB/MIN and your pressure ratio will be 1.47:1 @ 5600 rpm. I'm about to search some flow maps to find a good turbo match for you.

Each of these turbos should work well for you:

Go to majesticturbo.com and click the compression map link to view other maps, though I think I chose the best from those listed. You should have lots of room to grow too when you want more power.
Did I mention you should have around 230 WHP?

Re: turbo recommendation

Any idea of the cost of putting a Turbo onto the KA24DE?
I would imagine a FMIC is a good idea too...Does the fuel pump or injectors need to be upgraded?
Thanks for any imput!
