1988 735 i transmission problems

i placed my 1988 735i(automatic) in the shop for electrical problems(alarm system short),when i got it back it was shimmering and shking in first but got better in upper gears. changed trans filter and fluid.next day it stopped pulling altogether.Had no problems previously with transmission.please help
