hi,
i have a friend that has a f150 98 model. it is a stock v6. well he is wondering if you can engine swap it with a v8 engine. Also is there a way to put a turbo charger into his v6 engine. if so give me a link to go to. Thank you |

Dropping in the V8 isn't hard, just need to change the engine mounts, though i don't have a link for you to follow.
The trucks with the V6 are no different then the V8 trucks other then the engine, so the swap should be simple enough. As far as the turbo is concerned...try jegs.com and see what they suggest...you can also call any performance shop.

Re: engine swap
Well, aside from that info LY gave being pretty much completely wrong, it would be much easier to upgrade the 4.2L (and cheaper) than to perform a V-8 swap.
What's different you ask? -engine mounts (mentioned) -transmission (really, they are NOT the same P/N) -transmission harness -engine wiring harness -Powertrain Control Module (PCM), you CANNOT run a V-8 with a V-6 PCM. -radiators are not identicle (but may work) -Driveshafts may, or may not be exactly the same. -Accessories like A/C, P/S etc are not interchangeable. |
