BMW e?? what?

Okay, please note the newbie status ...

I keep reading the different posts and everyone refers to an e28 or an e34, etc. What do these stand for and how can I find what my BMW is? I have a 1990 BMW 535i, automatic.

Thanks in advance to those who take the time for the lesson!

Re: BMW e?? what?

The E codes are the BMW engine and body codes for models / engines for groups of years. A 1990 535i is an E34. It's pretty much shorthand. Eventually you'll pick it up
