check engine light

My 97 started balking at about 86000 miles and since the plugs are supposed to last 100K i thought I had a clogged injector. WRONG!!! I went ahead and changed the plugs myself since my dealer quoted me $375 just for a plug change and presto,,, problem solved. Except now I have the check engine light on and resetting it didn't cure the problem. The light returned. I rechecked my work and can't see anything wrong except possibly one of the emission gismos that doessn't seem to have a place to connect the vac hose. The gismo I'm refering to is near the firewall on the left side of the engine bay. It has a vac hose about 2" long with a blue dot on it and since I couldn't see anyplace to connect it I left it open. Could someone take a look at theirs and let me know if they see it connected to something?

Thx

Re: check engine light

i am assuming you mean the left side as you are looking under the hood, not as you are in the drivers seat.my 96 has somthing with a 5/15 hose that goes to the opposite end of the engine just behind the fuel pressure regulator,i looked under a 95 yesterday and there was a cruise control set up attached in that location

Re: check engine light

If you have an AutoZone near you, they'll read the code which is causing your check engine light to come on. This might help further determine what's going on, and what that hanging hose is supposed to be connected to...
