Stabilizer/sway bar

I've looked on every single website i can find, and went to a few scrap/junk yards around here, but i cannot find either a replacement or a upgrade for my sway bar, the bar is busted off at one end. At all the junk yards the only 96-98 ga's i found were in accidents and the bar was f***ed up. If anyone knows a site, or has a car they could pull it off for me, i would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot. Oh yea my cars a 96 se.

Re: Stabilizer/sway bar

If you can't afford a new one you can check car-part.com and search for the sway bar from wrecking yards across the country. There has to be a used one out there somewhere. Although you may be ahead upgrading to one that the folks from PFYC can provide.

Re: Stabilizer/sway bar

Pfyc is for the newer GA's. Im finding out more and more that sunfire and cav stuff fits on GA's even on the v6's like my O2 simulator is for a sunfire/cav 97-03 , said nothing on the box about ga's but works. Also the front end frame and enginebay is same as a cav or sunfire as well as the rear seats fit in the back of GA's and vice versa only difference was ga's have 60/40 split in the rear seat backings , the clip that separates the two could easily be removed and put in a sunfire or cav so it has 60/40 folding rear seats. Perhaps look at the same year cav's and sunfires and check parts codes from gm and see if it matches for your car the same.

Re: Stabilizer/sway bar

I checked car-part.com and found 12 pages of sway bars. There were a large number that will fit your car. 30 mm diameter. I don't know where you are located but there should be a yard in your area that can supply you with a used one until you can find a new one if that is what you want. Prices range from $25 to $100. If you find one just e-mail them or click on the yard name and you can call them. They should ship overnight if you need it that fast. Good Luck!

Re: Stabilizer/sway bar

They dont make one for my year though, 96, the last year they make one for is 94. All the sway bars i've looked at are 1 1/8 or 1 1/4. Im not sure the inches on my car buts its 30mm, and i converted them, and neither one matches to 30. The 1 1/4 is like 31.25mm. So i think they will either be too big or too small. What do you think?
