Don't just read it; say something!

Hey come on folks, this is an awesome forum. Let's liven it up a little bit.

I have a question: Was more than one type of Ferrari called the 250GT? I know about the "regular" and the SWB. I'm wondering if there was a race car too. This is all because I'm gathering info on the Thomassima III. I want to build a model of it and info is tough to find.

Do any of you guys (& gals!) build models? I'm about to begin work on the Fisher Model & Pattern Works 512S Coda Lunga (#5). Actually don't know who drove that one. Have to look it up. I got this in a trade for a dog of a resin 712 Can-Am car.

I just got the Accurate Miniatures McLaren M8B. That one looks like fun. I'm wondering if I can use one of these M8 kits as a detail set for the Fisher M6. (???)

I don't know about the Ferrari, but I do build model cars. There is a forum on this site where we talk about Car Modeling. It is under Automotive Art.

Welcome to AF.

The drivers were Ickx-Schetty. Jacky Ickx could follow the pace of the factory built Porsche 917's but sadly crashed during the night, killing a marshall.

This happenened in the 1970 Le Mans 24 hour race.

You might wanna check out my own thread about the model since I have been working for a few months now at the exact same model. Not an easy one!

Here already 1 pic to give you an idea

There were many MANY different models sub-models and versions named 250 GT! Some were designed as "normal" street cars (250 GTE) others were pure race machines (250 GTO), many were a little bit of both BUT ALL were raced at some point in their lifespan modified or not. The whole list would be just too long so you better check out a link like this for details of all street and race cars .

http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All....treet_cars.htm

The only common thing between all these cars is that they shared the same basic engine block of 250cc per cylinder (3.0 litres in total from a V12).

After 4 months of work, it's finally finished

Although it's a pretty basic model, I wanted to get it right and as detailed as possible (there are very few pics of the actual car that only raced half a race at Le Mans before it crashed).

I hope you enjoy the pics
