Hello, Im new here.
Anyway, I'll get to the point. I've owned a 1995 GMC Sonoma SL for about.... 4 years now, and its been pretty reliable. It has a new catalatic converter, exaust system, head gasket, and front end. I also upgraded the lights and the battery. I want to lower the suspention just a small amount and put street tires on it. It has a blind spot that is only worsened by its hight, and Ive slashed open my front left tire about 4 times on unseen obsticles because of where I live in Richmond. The roads are horrable and many curbs are cheaply made with sharp edges. Im sick of replacing that stupid tire, so I want to lower the suspention a bit and get a tire thats not so thick and guarded by the rim, so it doesn't have that bubling out look, you know that curve "(" that allows obsticles to snag the rubber on the tire and rip it open.
But my question is..... is it worth the cost? We're talking around $400-$500 for 4 new wheels, 4 new tires, and lowering the suspention, if I shop wisely. The truck doesn't even look that nice. The seat and floor covering are hold and need to be replaced. The bottom of the truck is a little rustier than what I'd call a comfortable level, and the left side has a gash in the door about an inch deep. It could use a new paint job, and the engine is only a 4 cylinder which isn't very powerful at all, although it does save me gas money compared to most trucks I've seen. Is this truck worth the trouble and the cost, or should I just trade it in and try to get a good used vehicle? I can get about $2,500 to $3,000 for it.
