forced air

okay im not sure exactly what site i was lookin at but there was a guy on there sayin he took his tbi air cleaner assembly and cut another hole in it so that it could use two breather snorkels i guess theyre called, like the ones on the high out put 305s i guess then he said he bought some duct like they have on the back of dryers and rerouted these to the holes in his bumper where the fog lights would go....now from the sound of this it would be a good cheap method of forced cold air and lots of it but could this really be done and would it mess up anything else something dealin w/ the computer possibly by givin more air than expected by the computer if that makes sinse?? it intrigues me because it seems like a good idea to me but i dont know much about it but if it could work id try it on my 91 305 tbi thanx for the help ahead of time cause i know u guys will have plenty of suggestions as always and keep them commin i appreciate all of them good and bad

forced air induction is nohing new in camaro's so no it shouldn't harm your computer or anything like that. If anything it'll give you a bit more boost as its raming in the air directly into the intake.

ya, you shouldn't have any problems, the IAT sensor should adjust pulse width and timing accordingly for air temperature.

Re: forced air

geezus *smacks forhead* it wont force any air into the engine, not gonna happen, it will let COLD air into the engine, this is good for it, will not harm any components, and will add a few ponies.

Re: forced air

Execept I could see dryer vent hose melting from the heat.. Its very very thin plastic... Especially down there by the rad, lots of heat.. And if it didnt melt, it'd do a good job of heatin' up your cold air.. Ide be lookin for some industrial conduit material or 3 or 4" flex pipe of some sort.. Somethin a little heavier, and better insulating than dryer vent hose.. You'd probably want a couple drain holes down near the bottem too, so water and moisture can get out..

Re: forced air

dryer vent hose shouldnt melt and if you are worried about it heating up than use aluminum.
