'92 Ranger XLT No Heat

I just changed the engine in my Ranger and do not get heat out of the heater. I put a new thermostat in and back flushed the heater core. All seems to be fine, but the heater core hoses are not getting hot. The upper and lower radiator hoses are getting hot though. I don't see any leaks and bled the cooling system to get all of the air out. What am I missing?

I pulled the water pump off and the impeller was rotted off. I replaced it and the heater works great now. I had a friend tell me to check the water pump since this is a known problem with the 3.0L engine. I hope this will save someone else the headache that I got over it.
