Question about Intake Manifold
I have a Second Gen B16A Engine, with Intake, headers and Exhaust, if I put a TYPE R Intake Manifold, how much HorsePower I will gain???
I have a friend that is my rival, he has a LS/VTEC, and in 1/4 of mile it wins me for an advantage by a car . Will I win my friend with this new modification? Thanks for Your help!!

the type r manifold wont add that much hp, maybe like 4hp. so youll run a tenth of a second quicker, thats it. you wont beat your friend unless he only runs a tenth of a second faster than you

get the intake manifold that u have right now ported and polished and you will notice a better gain then that Type-R manifold, not sure about number gain cause it depends on what else u have....

You could get a c.a.intake to go with your manifold and that might juice things up a bit...but the winning might be a stretch still

So the biblical scholars mis-translated the Hebrew word for "young woman" into the Greek word for "virgin," which was a pretty easy mistake to make, since there is only a subtle difference in the spelling. But back then it was the "virgin" that caught people's attention. It's not every day a virgin conceives and bears a son. So you keep that for a couple of hundred years, and the nexy thing you know, you have the Roman Catholic church. -Snatch |

Re: Question about Intake Manifold
i would argue that the b16a stock head flows slightly better than the type r. If your rival beats u by a very small margin, think about getting some underdrive pullies from unorthodox racing--your cheapest and best bet. You might want to get some more aggresive cams and some new cam sprockets (aem). I think all that is worth about 20 hp at the high end of the curve.

Re: Question about Intake Manifold
your not really gonna feel a diff from any of it, one thing depends on another and iff all parts are not performing in unison than the gains are never optimal...if you run an edlebrock victor X or an ITR intake ( which i think you should ) with a CAI ( aem ) 70mm throttlebody and a p&p with an ITR header you will then notice a much better gain...having one thing that flows more does hardly any good if all the componants before and after it are still flowing the same ammount.. you want the most pull for the dime to beat this kid... ? throw in a set of ITR or even skunk 2 mild cams with some underdrive pully's ( as stated ) with perhaps some aem tru-time cam gears and rather a JUN or Skunk2 programmed ecu and you will pull on him....to do all that is needed to fully apply more air for combustion will be much more costly in the long run after the head work and the fuel system adjustments..im not saying you shouldnt do that..i fully reccomend it, its just i dont think you sound reasy to get into all that, i think you just want more quick power for the buck so you can pull on this kid and perhaps a few others...

Re: Question about Intake Manifold
well the skunk 2 is modeled after the ITR so the diff will be very minimal..if your going to pay skunk 2 price i would find a edlebrock victor X, even tho i hate them ebay has them sometimes for pretty good prices. see an ITR-skunk2 and victorX are all pretty much in the same class...until you get into the venom,AC,quade all that high end stuff...but if i had to pick and the ITR didnt do much for ya, then pick up a Victor X and hope for the best..you will have no problom selling that ITR if you choose to

hey man, thanks a lot!!!!!!! I got a problem, here in my country i can't find any victor X, so i have to choose between the ITR and the Skunk 2. i'll go for the skunk 2, i hope that i'll gain 3hp more o less!
