LS/Vtec or N/A idk

Im wonderin if i should do the LS/VTEC or just build up a torquey b18.
Ive just recently heard of the unreliability of the ls vtec swap, but i am still interested in it, i also like the idea of just modding the b18 for horsepower and more torque gains. Do you guys think its worth it to spend the money on the LS/ VTeC??

Re: LS/Vtec or N/A idk

ls/vtec is not an unreliable motor. It will last just as long as a gsr motor, it just has to be built right. People keep bad mouthing good mods like the ls/vtec becasue they built it wrong. Like any mod it has to be done right. Most the time the reason ls/vtec doesn't work is because the moron who built it tried to tap the oil on their own, no experience. Go to a pro, of have someone who knows what they are doing do it for you, or you can even buy these little dowls that do all the work for you and require no machine work. ls/vtec can be a very good mod. I personally like it alot, you can get great gain without having to spend alot. The great thing is, you still have the low compression pistions of the ls bottom, so you can still boost it pretty good should you decide to turbo it. Then you have the best of both worlds. Bottom line is it is relatively cheap, and you can get great gains from it. A ls/vtec will beat a slightly modded gsr. Though if you are really on a tight budget, and you want the highest gains, I would say turbo would be the way to go. you can boost your stock b18b block 12psi. For the price, that will be the best bang for your buck! Good luck
