Dash guages madness
I'm a newbie!
I have a 99 Grand AM SE 2.4L and I love it BUT about 2 Months ago I started to have porblems with the Gauges in the dash going OF for a very short time and coming back on right the away usualy when I was starting the car. Also I noticed that my blower does not work at that time. Lately it's hapening eaven when I drive down the highway and a lot more often and for longer periods of time. Any help with this I would apreciate verry much. Thanx. |

WHOOOAAA!! A blower? You mean fan, right? If you got a blower on a Grand Am, you'd be a REAL sleeper. Too bad they don't make blowers for 'em, just turbos. When the lights shut off like this, does the car die? What all, in detail, shuts down when this happens. Could be something as simple as a loose battery cable. Sounds dumb, but it happens. Hope your lucky and this is the fix.

Hi Rod&Custom
Yes sory the fan. Nothing hapens the car runs fine the only things I noticed so far is that the fan and any of the guages don't work ,it's like the key is out of the ignition compleatly. I looked for loose conection but so far I could not find any. |

Ahhh, too bad. My '97 Bonnevile just stopped dead one day, lights and all were gone. Checked, and lucky me, it was a loose battery cable. Too bad you couldn't be as lucky, I will keep brainstorming, and if I come up with something, I will tell you ASAP. I know these things can be very annoying.

My car keeps running just fine while I loose power to dash.It just bugs me that I don't know what KM/Hour I'm driving at and I have no fan (a/c)
This might not have anything to do with it but I noticed that sometime it happens shortly after I turn the fan on. |

Re: Dash guages madness
Thats not cool , sounds like an inline fuse link is loose to me. This could be tough to find , have it looked at yet?

Re: Dash guages madness
I had a similar problem with a car I was working on in my shop. All the guages would jump around and after extensive searching I found that the airbag module under the passenger seat was getting wet for years from the bad water problem on many grand am/prix. And after a while the car wouldn't even start cause the module was shorting and the car tought someone was stealing it.It can be disconnected and everything should work normal again except you Won't HAVE AIRBAGS!
