irratic fuel guage
i have a 2001 silverado. ive read a lot about the problems with the fuel level sender. is there a recall or will there be a recall on this? also this just may be a coincedence but it started to become irratic after i was checking a few fuses. could my problem be something else. its only irratic in park. once in gear it stops jumping around, but still not accurate. once i start moving it works properly and accuratly. any help would be great.
also, is this a difficult job to do yourself? |

Re: irratic fuel guage
There are many threads concerning this problem here. From what I've read, been told, heard, you have to replace the fuel sending unit inside the tank. I've done it on a 96 2500, and on a dodge ram, and no, its not very hard. You can go about it 2 ways. One is to lift the bed off the truck to access the top of the fuel tank..this is the option I prefer. Another is to drop the tank under the truck and replace the unit. This way is how I did it on the Dodge, and I don't look forward to doing it again...
