auto to manual switch

I purchased a 1968 GTO a few years back and have had some trouble with the transmission off and on. Does anyone happen to know if thee is a different crossmember installed on maual vs. automatics. It just looks like the linkages are awfully close and might be tapping the crossmeber on large bumps. Any ideas? Thanks.

Not sure about that myself. I'd suggest you jump over to www.performanceyears.com (that's the pontiac and gto site). Come back and let us know what you found out... never know when it can help!

Re: auto to manual switch

I did the swap 10 or so years ago and used my existing crossmember but hammered the floorboard for clearance.
IN fact I'm putting in my rebuilt 455 in the next few months...
