Unhappy 96 Camry - Power Antenna Problem

The antenna keeps getting stuck when I turn the radio on. If I pull it out manually it comes out. Also, when the antenna is stuck, it makes this loud whirry noise. Once I manually pull it up, it is ok. It goes down ok. I was told that may be the mast broke. I ordered a new antenna and put it in. I noticed that the old mast was not broken. Also, even with the antenna and mast - still have the exact same problem. Please help.

Are you sure you got out all of the mast leader out with the old mast. Sometimes it breaks off and stay in the motor section. If the motor sections screwed up, you can get a replacement antenna off of e-bay pretty cheap.

Hello Calvic:

I did get all of the old mast out - the length of the old mast and new mast were the same. I am hoping you have some more insight for me. Thanks.
