drove my first porsche last night

a 1998 boxster, a superb automobile i must say. It was awesome. This is the second time i've been in a porsche and it was the only 2 times i really felt like i was in a real car. the cars sound is awesome, but i dont think it matches that of a 911 hehe. handling in this car was great, i didnt really open it up but i could tell a definite difference between my 94 integra and this car. acceleration was pretty good, but i expected it to be a little bit better. the gearbox/clutch/gas pedals were so weird though (not that i couldnt get used to that haha). The gearbox was the biggest surprise... i didnt think the shifter would have such a weird feel like that. i thought it'd be like my integra (short and very precise)... this one felt a little loosy goosy, but that could be because i only drove it one... and im positive thats' what it is. anyway i was impressed. makes me wanna stay in school! get a good job so i can get one! hehe. what have been you guys' porsche driving experiences?

i own a boxster 93. and the gears arnt strange at all. it is a quick shift box. How can you say that the accelration is poor compared to ur other posrche.. the boxster rips it apart in acceleration. Also, id rather be in a boxster than an old car. I have raced many of my freinds posrches 911, from 1980 to around 1990 and my car has beat them hands down.

The boxster also has an amazing noise.. maybee your confused with your petrol smelling exaust of your 911. Its funny, all these people on this forum owns a boxster and they are in school lol lol.... i dont belive a word of it.. maybee you drove one... but u'll never own one!

dude, don't be a jackass.

also, come down from that acid trip where you are halucinating that your car is super fast. I have a 2003 Boxster, which is considerably quicker than the 98, and I would not say it is super fast. 0-60 is about 6 seconds a hell of a lot better than the 98 models 6.7 sec, but still not
anywhere near the fastest on the road.

Re: drove my first porsche last night

All of you need to get a life! I've got a 01 Boxster S, with over 5k in performance upgrades, dynoed at 326hp. It is super fast! No body in my town can touch me. Not even Vette owners. I did get beat by a Z06 Vette once on the highway, but we were already doing 95 mph. A Vette's acceleration at that speed is awsome. I stuck with him pretty good untill we got up to around 130. They just have big high end performance. Make no mistake, when I'm sitting at a traffic light, and one thinks he can take me, forget it! I'm doing mid-high 10's in the 1/4. Don't believe me? Its all documented, and vidio taped! I'll post a link so everyone can see it soon.

wat kind of mods did you get for 5k that gained you so much. i mean the stock hp *at the crank* is 250. so at the weels call it 225 at the wheels... hell thats 100 WHEEL hp we're talkin about there. if we were talkin integras then yea 100whp gain you better be able to do for 5k, but a porsche... stuffs just a tad bit more expensive.

I used to have a 944 and the shifting was a little harder to get used to than most cars. It seemed like the clutch was lighter or you had to shift more quickly? I can't describe it in technical terms, because I just know what I like to drive and not much about how it works. I have driven a newer Integra and it was so easy to shift compared to the Porsche. I let a friend drive the 944 and it killed on her five times. I loved driving it though and never had a problem with it. All cars just drive a little different. I've never driven a boxster, but I hope to own one or a 911 one day.
