Help on Speakers and Amps?

Whadup y'all. Right now I'm leaning in a 1996 Honda Accord and I'm trying to replace the factory speakers in my rear deck. Now I know that I need to get an amp to power the speakers and get its full power. So I'm asking y'all if y'all got any suggestions on what I should look at. If you have any experience with some or anything. Also I listen to hip hop, so you know my shit gotta have a little bass. Thanks for the info in advance.

Well, Ive heard Sony speakers have weak cones, and they blow alot. There are some speakers that have aluminum cones, and theyre pretty rigid. As far as brands go, Im partial to Audiobahn(Flame compression subs hit 1,500 watts RMS and theyre tight looking), but its really preference.

Re: Help on Speakers and Amps?

what size speakers fit in the rear deck of an Accord? If you want bass, you're going to have to invest in subs and an amp. You'll blow those speakers trying to get the bass you're looking for.

Re: Help on Speakers and Amps?

Yeah I'm that's what I'm beginning to think GS, but I need to find some subs w/ a box and amp for less than $400. Do you think its possible? I ain't looking for the best of the best. I'm just trying to get something that is just an good upgrade from what I got now, which is factory speakers.

Re: Help on Speakers and Amps?

$400 is a bit of a tight budget, but you can make it work. I'll be purchasing 2 Alpine Type R 12's and a Hifonics BX1000D pretty soon. With the box and amp kit it'll come out to be about $570. I'll search around a little bit and see what I can come up with.

Re: Help on Speakers and Amps?

This is what I came up with real quick. Audiobahn subs aren't the best, I had them in my Civic, but they definetely hit hard.

a pair of these: http://www.woofersetc.com/product.as...7&1=218&3=2074

this amp: http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/1506

this amp kit: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...?prodID=KOLAK4

and build the box yourself. With shipping all included it should come out to a little bit more than $400. If you don't have an aftermarket cd player you'll need one of these: http://davidnavone.com/adaptor_products.htm#N-444

Re: Help on Speakers and Amps?

Word up that helped alot. I just got one small question. What is the relation of the number of watts on the subs to the number of watts on the amp? Hope that made sense. Like for instance, if I was to get some 10" 500-watt subs, what watt amp would I need. Thanks for the help, GS.

Re: Help on Speakers and Amps?

you want to look at RMS numbers first off. That's how much power the sub can handle or the amp can dish out. If you had a 500 watt sub, you would want an amp that can feed it 500 watts.

Re: Help on Speakers and Amps?

if u want, my AIM sn is quackquack2x.

i have a few things that aren't too expensive, but aren't crap stuff either.

$400 for box, sub, and amp is very do-able.

For superior sound you should get components speakers in front and back. I swear by components. Mb Quart, JL, Boston, Infinity, Type R Alpine are a some good brands. You could get an expensive amp to run these but save your money and get a cheap 4 channel amp. I have bought the expensive amps for my highs and i didnt need 2. I once had to use a pyramid Reno (800 watt, but not really) 4 channel becuse my Crossfire was stollen. And It worked perfect for my highs. I would have never used it on my subs but for highs the cheap amps work fine.
As for subs I would suggest JL or Alpine. And you may as well go with matching amps
