Question 03 V6 tranny slip

I've got 5,500 miles on my '03 4Runner Sport V6. When driving through parking lots, garages, at intersections when I slow to 10 MPH, about 700 RPM then slowly accelerate the engine races to about 1,400 RPM before the tranny grabs gear. It's really odd. Our 3-speed Sienna never has this symptom. Anybody else finding this?

OK, I know that: ---jimmytweed and kutasy both have the X reas suspension on the Sport Editions. Does: toyota03 have the X-reas suspension as an option on the Limited. Cause that would tie both the V6 and the X-reas as a possible culprit.

It's hard for me to understand what connection there may be between X reas and the transmission...

Re: 03 V6 tranny slip

My 2004 2WD SR5 has the same problem. It only has 450 Miles on it. It can get very annoying in stop and go traffic. The truck will rev up and then lurch forward or kick back when it slips back down to 1rst gear.
My 97 Taurus did this as well since day one. I was hoping that the Toyotas would nopt have this problem.

My 92 4runner 4x4 (flashes/stalls) to 2400 rpm's taking off in drive or 1st gear shifted manually with 340h a/t and falls back to below 1,000 rpm's when letting off gas on rebuild and yes fluid level checked and does it cold or hot.Trying to fix it and have heard lots about shift solinoids and shift cable adjustments but no cure as yet...anyone got cure??haha
