97 SSEi - maintenance of supercharger

Does the supercharger need any maintenance like changing the oil, etc. My SSEi has 105,000 miles. If the oil can be changed what kind do you use? Thanks in advance for your response!

just keep it full of oil. it uses a synthetic oil which you can buy at a GM dealer, it's about $6-$8 dollars for a 4 oz. bottle. there is a plug toward the tip of the supercharger that takes a 3/16" hex bit (allen head).
the life expectancy of the supercharger is about 80,000 miles.

The oil should be changed every 30K miles per the maintenance in your owners handbook.

Ok so I have a 96 SSEI with 157K miles on it. Should I be worried even though its running perfect? Is there anything I can look for to tell me that the SC is going bad.
Thanks

80,000 MILES!!!!, give me a break, they last a hell of a lot longer than that mine has 140,000 and as quiet as the day it left the showroom, and i've seen many go longer than 80K, with proper maintaince they'll go the distance.

Re: 97 SSEi - maintenance of supercharger

when i first got my 95 ssei, one of the first things i did was get the supercharger oil changed. because it only takes one four ounce bottle to fill, all i had to do was hook up a vacuum pump to the little hole, suck the old 4 oz out, and pour the new stuff in. even if you had it done by someone else, $30-$40 seems very little so spend to ensure a smooth running blower.....
