Coolant leaking

I have another problem with my 1998 Intrigue. The car was leaking coolant near the water pump. Thought it was that and replaced it. Its still leaking, but it looks like a small plastic elbow piece above the water pump that goes into the engine is cracked. Does anyone know how to replace it. I pulled it out and got the new elbow, but its impossible to connect both sides theres not enough room-one side there's the engine and the other part of the elbow is connected to another part thats near the belts. Has anyone replaced or know how to get it to fit-Its a rigid piece of plastic. I thought it would be easy.
