Smile Resinator

Hey all, I just got my 00' ZX2 about 2 weeks ago and have about 800 miles so far and I gotta say I really like this car. I removed the lower resinator, is it just me or does it lag just a little more ? Maybe it's just my imagination. If I do the upper resinator mod will this get worse/better or stay the same. I would have posted much earlier but my computer was all sortsa fuct up.

Re: Resinator

removing the resonators should help let more air into the car, its the samething as buying a intake, it should get better

Re: Resinator

You loose low end torque because of the lack of back pressure.

Re: Resinator

it doesn't the air comes in through the fender not the resinator. the resinator just dampens noise and steals air. ford is a buncha genious's. anyways the upper is more for sound and prolly dosn't do that much for power. the both of them together you can feel i little difference but if you put a k&n you can feel the real difference. and it sounds like an intake if you replace the upper resinator w/ a metal pipe from an auto parts store. i just used a exhaust resinator w/ flared ends and cut it to 7 in. long

Re: Resinator

no there are two holes, one for the resinator that goes down into it and the other that goes straight out into the fender in the same direction you air filter is facing. take your filter cover off and you'll see what im talkin about.

anther thing that people do is cut teh factory air box at the beginning so that your whole filter is showing. i haven't done this so i don't know if you can see a difference or not but there are other things you can do too like put pvc over the filter leading into the fender and get actual cold air from outside the engine compartment and blocks the hot engine air.
