Type R swap
How much trouble would a JDM Type R swap be to go into a 92-95 civic hatch? I was recently contenplating swapping in an h22, but I heard it would be alot of trouble, so I was wondering how much trouble it would be to drop in a JDM Type R. Thanks.

Re: Type R swap
It's real easy. If you can get a hold of a USDM Type R engine harness you're golden, as it plugs right into the fifth gen Civic. You'll have to add a couple wires and get a chipped ECU, or a conversion harness. But it's like any other B series, a stright drop in with mounts, shiftlinkage.
The only concern is hte axles, the JDM five lug ITR uses a 36m hubs, and won't fit into your Civic hub. You can eoither do the five lug convresion, or source axles from any 94+ Integra, 99-00 Si, 94-97 Del Sol vtec (B16A3).

Re: Type R swap
Okay, so if I purchase a complete change over, is there anything else I'll need to get to include in the swap? Here's the parts included...
Motor - LSD Hydraulic Tranny (S80) - ECU (P73) - Axles with Half Shaft - Shift Linkage - Stock Motor Mounts - Alternator - Starter - Clutch - Flywheel - Intake Manifold - Exhaust Manifold - Fuel Rail - Injectors - Distributor - Engine Harness - Comes With All Sensors Needed |

Re: Type R swap
If it is a JDM 98+ motor you will need the smaller axles, as I mentioned before. Also if it is a JDM motor, you will need to get a USDM harness, as the JDM one is RHD, and plugs in on hte opposite sides. You can use your harness, and run the extra wires, but you'll need to replace some of the plugs on your harness with those from the ITR's JDM hanress, as hte OBD II plugs are different. You should have a manual with hte wiring diagrams handy for this.

Re: Type R swap
ok, well that doesnt seem like too much trouble then.. I'm just trying to find out which motor's are easily doable, and which arent... I know a lot of people drop in B16's in they're hatch's.
