Rule 2: Only shoot friends in the butt, ankle, and back.
Rule 3: Ignore Rule 2 never shoot another human being(although I got shot/shot someone else).

Re: Air Guns...

I really don't see them as being dangerous, even when a child is using it if they are properly supervised its not a big deal. When I was about 6 years old I received a pellet rifle for christmas, but I wasn't allowed to run around shooting it without my parents around. Banned? No they aren't that dangerous, licensed, maybe up to a certain power range those 1000 FPS air guns really arent appropiate for a young kid.

But I know guys that got their first .22 or first .410 at a younger age than I had a pellet rifle. All depends on what the parents decide and the law decides I guess.

I've never owned an air gun. Real guns on the other hand, I have several of those. But, the principle is the same - always treat it as though it were loaded.

Re: Air Guns...

I agree Raz but you can never convince the "anti gun" followers that anything can be a weapon. I think the pellet rifles make a perfect training weapon for firearm safety, they allow parents to teach their children "the ropes" of a firearm without a serious risk, a red rider bb gun won't kill you but if you drop a 12 gauge you might have a problem. I think the key is that they are only sold adults who have to be responsible as you said. I mean, a father can take his kid to the range or out into the woods and let him fire a .308, personally i'd rather have him letting the kid shoot a pellet or bb gun.

Re: Air Guns...

is it like a bb gun, or an airsoft gun that shoots plastic bb's? i have tons of airsoft fights, all you need is to wear goggles, and your set, paintball is better, but makes a big mess, unless its not yur property.........

Re: Air Guns...

I too have a Crossman Semi-Automatic air pistol, I recently added a laser sight... which takes all the work out of actually trying to have good aim. My gun uses the gas cartridges and is 4 times more powerful than my old crossman air rifle. no way in hell would I want to get shot anywhere!! the Air Guns are used for Target practice, no Hunting.. They should be kept locked up and never used in a playful manner. My nieces and nephews are always over the house so my Air Guns get locked in the cabinet with my dads 12 gauge and the Beretta. either way its still a weapon and should be treated with proper care and respect.

Re: Air Guns...

Should be left up to parents to decide if kids are capable.

you only have to be 16 here to get a pellet/bb gun. 18 for a rifle 21 for a handgun.

i don't see a problem with somoene owning one. treat it like anything else that lets loose projectiles. some scumbag shot my cat with a pellet gun and it went clean through her hip. that's fucked up. i used mine to shoot at soda cans and bottles. i've never shot another living animal in my life with anything; except for my friends w/ paintballs.

Re: Air Guns...

If you have a basement or a big room take a large cardboard box, in the front put old phone books or magazines stacked, than behind that crumple up newspaper and put it in there along with anything else that will stop the pellet with a ricochet, thats what I do, works just fine indoors, I shoot at paper targets.

Re: Air Guns...

yeah, if you're careful with them, they really shouldn't be much of a problem at all

i.e. not shooting ppl anywhere besides the back and legs
