89 Toyota MR2

Sup all?

Well I came across a great deal (I think) yesterday. My fiancee knows a guy that wants to sell his 89 MR2 for 100$ he said the body is in great shape and so is the interior. But it doesnt run. I dont know why it doesnt run, I havent talked to him yet or even seen the car. I dont know if its the Supercharged or NA model yet either. Just wanted to get some opinions and ideas about this car. Im more of a honda guy but Im always up for something new. Do you know of any good places to get a motor if the current motor isnt fixable? Do you guys have any opinions on the car? I figure if nothing else. I can part it out for more then 100$ and make a little money off it either way. But I really rather fix it up and have a little fun with it. Ive been wanting one for ever. Could you also point me in the direction of some other good MR2 sites so I can do a little reading up on them.

Thanks for your help.

If it's just a bad motor, you can get a Jspec clip for the AW11 (MK1 mr2) from either motors unlimited (I forgot their number) or you can check out the inventory at http://www.neishlinmotors.com/
You'd be looking for a 4AGE or 4AGZE, the latter being the supercharged motor. Plus, if you plan to change the motor yourself, get the toyota service manuals. Try to weigh the costs of buying the car and buying a new motor to buying a working car. Either way, if you go with the MK1, you won't be disappointed.
