The damn Stillen Hi-Flow air intake

:smoka: First, I'm gonna vent about this Stillen intake. All and all, not impressed. The holes for the sensor at the top of the filter were too small, I had to drill those out bigger. Then the brace that should mount up with the holes in my engine well from the stock air box was too small. (Probably for the '00 G and Stillen just threw it in the box without looking at it) so I had to reshape and drill that. I had to extend the sensor wires, but of course they don't tell you this nor give you supplies (like a Wire Sheath or anything) so now I have a janky wire with connectors and speaker wire to extend it and it looks pretty bad... Works well though, and no check engine lights, so I guess I installed it correctly... Anyway, my question for you all..... Did Stillen send me the wrong equipment?! In the box, I received a small "K&N" filter about the size of a child's fist. What is this filter for?! I don't see anywhere on my car that I need this filter? Am I loosing my mind? Or did they send me the wrong Intake here.... ? Any help would be appreciated....

hmmm...The installation of my stillen intake on my '95 went quite smoothly. The only minor fitment problem was that one of the holes on the bracket was slightly off (just had to enlarge it a little) where it attaches to the car. I also received the tiny K&N filter but since it wasn't mentioned in the instuctions I just ignored it.

Same with me. I actually purchased mine back in 1995. Guess they still haven't learned that they screwed it up huh? I just elongated the hole by drilled it. Fits perfect now.

You shouldn't have had to extend the wires on your air temp sensor. My $tillen intake was originally on my '91 NX2000. I sold the car and wanted to install it on my '96 G20. So, I ordered a new K&N cone for my $tillen intake and drilled my own holes in it for the air temp sensor. The wires were the perfect length. I had to unwrap some of the tape around them to make them long enough, but it was fine.

HERE ARE SOME PICS:

The smaller filter is for the 1991-1993 SR20's with the AIV black box. You would mount it there if you had an AIV box. So it's not needed.
