Replacing a 2.5 turbo with a 3.0 in a lebaron
Hi I have an opportunity to buy an 89 Lebanon convertible 2.5 turbo with a bad bottom end. Can I replace the 2.5 with a 3.0? Is the wiring harness the same? And the trans?
I have a 91 convertible with a 3.1 and I notice that there are connectors that are not used and am assuming that they are for other motors. I think that the computer will need to be changed but don’t know much else. Thanks Chuck |

At the least you will have to replace the wiring harness and the computer. You will also have to change the motor mounts. The transmission that is in the 2.5L Turbo will not bolt to the 3.0L. So you will have to swap the transmission and axles. It would be a lot of work, time, and money to do it.

Re: Replacing a 2.5 turbo with a 3.0 in a lebaron
Actually, if you have the whole donor car, just swap the whole front, subframe and all. It's not that musch trouble to do, but more work than swapping a V8 in an old truck...
I could go into details, but Why do you want the 3.0??? You can get a 2.5L turbo for almost nothing and rebuild it for a fairly cheap price, and it's better than the 3.0... Slantsixness
