Idenity of button behind shift???

One more quick question. I am the owner of a 93 GEO Metro. There is a button, knob, whatever, on the left rear side of the shift console. (automatic). I can pull it out but it won't push in. I don't have an owners manuel, therefore I don't have a clue as to what it is for. Thanks

Re: Idenity of button behind shift???

the button is used for releasing the transmission shift selector from park when the car is not running.
