Progress: Revell 97' porsche Le Mans

By far one of the greatest models i have worked with. the kit so far has been awsome. I got to use my new airbrush kit and work with thinning paints more, and man it has been a fun build so far. as of right now, i am touching up some spots, and i have been prepping the body for a gloss white paint. the motor alone took about 4 hours to build. The instructions on some of the motor were crap but i figured it out!

Dont worry about the door panels on the outside, cant see them when the body is on so why waste paint, plus the body will be glued on, all except the back hatch.

Any Comments welcome!

Make it a street conversion, that would be cool. Cool Build!

thanks Mike. i think i am way better at 1/24 and 1/25 scale models then at the smaller modifiers.

i was going to make it the texaco version in black but then figured hell the le mans one looks way cooler! so i changed plans. this is my first kit i have built how the box says. i always make them my own colors but this one becuase of the decals and it being a replica of a real car i had to folow the box!

Great choice of kit. Good luck with it. The swirly graphics on the works 97 LeMans cars are way cool, much cooler than any steet car!

Stop putting silly ideas into people's heads Mike

A street version wouldn't totally be a 'conversion'. For those who can't picture this as a street car, check this out!

I may be building this yet with my '97 lemans kit, haven't decided. I've got too many kits to do.

Yeah all GT1 class cars (Nissan R390, Toyota GT1, Mercedes CLK, etc) required a run of customer vehicles. So a street version wouldn't be as "bad" as a lot of the WRC conversions we see. Still it would take a fair effort to do properly, not just the externals but the interior and engine are vastly different. Recently somebody did a really nice job on a Nissan R390, using references to produce a very close replica of the real car.

Re: Progress: Revell 97' porsche Le Mans

Looks like you're off to a good start.

I bought this kit to steal the decals out of to use on my Clear-View Tamiya version. They are both 1:24 so they should work well.
