rack n pinion is leaking.....

does anyone have problems with their rack n pinion. i have a 98 lowered max, and its leaking power steering fluid. i know lowering puts alot of stress on the rack, but is this normal... i think my rack n pinion also skips when i take hard turns. my steering wheel is not straight...
anyone know how much i can expect to spend on this? and also i'm running 18' wheels, could that have contributed to my problem???

I have a 97 max and my power steering fluid leaked and also skipped when I took hard turns. Just found out it was due to a faulty rack 'n pinion. My mechanic told me it's going to cost my $380 to replace my rack 'n pinion...that sucks!
