Wind noise fixed!!

I don't know how many of you have this, but I had a very loud sound like rain drops (no it wasn't raining! ) coming from the A pillar and just a ton of wind noise on the highway.

I finally got bored enough to look into it, and it was the black molding that holds the windshield glass in place. It was just laying on top of the glass, so on the highway the wind was lifting it up and making lots of noise. I glued it back down and the truck is much quieter now. Also, my back windows in my extended cab were making tons of noise and not secured in very well, so I glued those too! I never used them anyways.....

I had the same problem on my 01 extended cab

I re-caulked the windshield and the noise stopped. I had to get a glass company involved to alleviate the wind noise on the back windows. The gaskets come as part of the window and have to be carefully aligned. The gasket on one of my windows was very brittle and no longer formed a tight seal. The whole design and choice of sealant could be better.

I gotta tell ya, I'm not very impressed by the quality of my Chevy truck. My screen name is the old one I used from my previous 2000 Ford Lightning, and as far as the interior and exterior moldings etc....that thing was solid. Nothing creaked or groaned or came off going down the highway. My 99 Silverado seems like it is coming apart with only 50k miles!! I've never used so much glue and had to take apart panels to re-tighten bolts on any other vehicle. (OK, I'm done venting!)

I think the ultimate truck would be using the Ford interiors (especially the new 04 ones) with a chevy drivetrain! The chevy truck engines just seem to pull harder and shift better than Fords...(with the exception of the Lightning).

Mines loud as hell. But I know the problem is I need all new seals. I really need to find the time to leave my truck with my parents and get it taken care of.
