a lil help in montreal?

hmm.. does anyone seem to know of any place in montreal ( Im hoping there are people from montreal in AF ) where I can find more 240's?? I know I havent been looking hard enough.. but I have to admit that I have been somewhat tryin to find one.. yeah I can find a couple, but alot ive found were AT so thats pretty much unacceptable..lol Not to diss the AT drivers of course.. lol

anywayz.. 240sx.. in montreal.. I need more of a choice then the ones ive found.. does anyone know of any place where I can look.. besides hebdo..lol

anywayz.. if not.. then ill just continue with my little search.

dont need to worry about anything else... just a decent body with extremely minor rust.. and something with a decent engine. From that point on.. as soon as I find the perfect one.. then I dont have to

Swap To Manual If You Can Get A Auto For A Good Deal. The 5spd Swap Is Pretty Cheap And Easy.

hmm

so if all else fails.. just swap the AT for a manual?

you said its pretty cheap to do that? how cheap would if be?.. like a guestimation.

has anyone ever done it before that might be able to enlighten me on it? would I need anything else?
for example.. the sr20det is sitting and waiting for a body basically.. so with the sr20det in hand.. and maybe soon a body.. what exactly would I need for the AT to manual swap?

thanks..

oh and I didnt quiet understand what the hell you were talking about in the last post.. something about faster then a 240 ect ect.. anywayz.. I was lost on that.. lol

I would assume that swaping an AT to a manual would be at least as expensive, and probably a little more than replacing/rebuilding a damaged MT. With labor, putting a rebuilt MT to replace another one will cost $800-$1200 in parts, and at least $300-$600 in labor.

I think the AT would cost more in parts, not to mention there would be some other things they would have to change, like the console and what not. If you go into a shop for that, you definatly will find some more problems that need to be fixed as well, so have extra cash ready. =)

By the way, this is our Montreal, It's a 1972' Alfa Romeo in excelent condition (less than 30,000 miles), and is one of less than 200 Montreals of any year that are in the united states and actualy run.

sigh

alright thanks for that info..

I guess the best way for me to go about this is to just save up more so then what I expected.. by a crappy 240sx and rebuild the damn thing..

or just go and by a decent 240sx and pay alot more then what I was hoping.

Or door number 3.. keep going on my little search to find the perfect 240.

anywayz.. thanks again.. ill be around the forum with more noob questions so watch out now!..lol

Re: a lil help in montreal?

autonet.ca
autoexpert.ca
autodirection.com
lespac.com

u could also try looking around the for sale sections of montrealracing.com or npclub.com

i know of some places that might be able to hook u up with a AT to MT swap for about $1500. altho i would suggest being patient, save up and wait til u find a nice clean 5 speed 240. right now it'll probably be harder to find anything... should be easier towards the end of the summer.
