Question GReddy Turbo Kit

I've been working on a new project GS-R for a while, and am ready for the turbo. After doing some research, I found that the GReddy Turbo kit w/ intercooler on a GS-R with no mods puts 255.6 hp to the wheels. I was wondering if anybody here has seen a dyno sheet for a turbo that puts more power to the ground than that. Also, one more requirement, it MUST be street-legal. Thanks.

Ben

P.S. My GS-R now has some pretty good mods. Some that will stay after the turbo are a GReddy Cat-Back exhaust system, AEM Cam Gears, and some Unorthodox Racing Pulleys.

Do they have emissions in Texas? I thought they didn't? Why not get a Drag kit...I know a couple of Texas guys from a different board that have great numbers with drag and revhard kits...2 for instance:gsr with rev hard kit and 8 lbs with 277 to the wheels...the other, civic with ls motor, drag3 kit, 266to the wheels with 8lbs also...I'll get you their emails later....

Unfortunately, they do still have emissions laws down here. They will probably keep those laws for a while, especially since Houston (where I live) is the smoggiest city in the world. Anyway, thanks for the info with the Drag kit and everything else. Oh yeah, are you sure on the hp to the wheels, cause alot of people advertise hp to the flywheel, which I don't care about. Power is no good unless it makes it to the wheels, but I'm sure you already knew that. *big breath* Thanks again.

Ok, I got your email and decided to reply here for others to share with.
First of all let me tell you what I had when I first dynoed, and what I did after a certain upgrade that helped my numbers some.

My set up was as follows:
-Rev-Hard Turbo kit stage 2
-Apex N1 60mm exhaust
-Greddy Profec A EBC
-Tial Wastegate
-Custom compressor air filter.
--Water cooled bearing housing
-Bosch inline pump
-Vortech 12:1 FMU
-Greddy boost and EGT gauges
Timing at 13.5
On this set up I dynoed at 266whp and 190ft/lbs @ 7.325psi

Then I upgraded to my own custom 3" downpipe and thermal exhaust. I keep everything the same and dynoed at 277whp and 200ft/lbs at the same boost level. Now, this was also done on a 104 summer day in Texas and you know how hot it can get here. Dynojet has a correction factor, but it cannot correct for temp and its effect on the intercooler. I expect to get more and I will be dyno'ing soon because the weahter is soo nice.

Also, this was done on all stock compents. I will be purchasing Hondata very soon and I my goal is 300 whp and thatst it. Im stopping right there. I invite you to the board Im a moderator on www.honda-tech.com and feel free to email me anytime...

Feel free to look at all the pics that I have, just change the #40 in the link above to 1, 2, and so on. I think there are about 45 pics.

:bandit: Well correct me if I am wrong but I beleave that the Drag 3 is a Ball bearing turbo which means spooling up faster and it will last longer then the Greddy.

I didn't even think about that. Looks like I'll have to do some more research.

Mind you they do cost about a grand more so if you are looking for a good price then I would go with the greddy because they are cheap.

The drag kit can be uprgraded to a ball bearing turbo for an extra fee. I would personally go revhard or drag.

I'll probably stick with a Drag kit, then upgrade it to a ball bearing turbo. I've always stuck with quality parts, and I don't plan on stopping now.
