New to Stealth, have couple ?

Hay all, new member here.

I recently bought a 94 Stealth with low miles, and in very good shape. It is the plain old SOHC, automatic.

Being new to Stealth’s, I have just a few questions.

First would be a timing belt change. How hard is it to do your self? I have no fear of working on cars, and do not mind challenging work.

The other question is the real pain. When I bought the car, it had a broken headlight lens. The dealer does have to replace it (I have this in writing) but they are, shall we say, taking their good old time about it. (Fact is, they will lose money on the car if they give me a new one) While I could put my lawyer on it, I would rather avoid that if possible. Today, they actually ask me for help locating one on the used market. Understand, I actually like this dealership, and would like to stay on good terms with them if at all possible. So, does anyone know where I might look? I have tried ebay, and the likes. Called local junkyards. I’m guessing the chances are slim, and this is going to end up with me not invited back to the dealer.

On a funny, perhaps sad also, side note, the salesman I worked with is no longer there.

Thanks for your time.

Dam u could be in luck..

Check here..
http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=203440 he is asking $300 for both though.. Probably have slim shot at finding just one if thats all you need..

The timing belt isnt too hard I guess from what I hear, but the person that said its easy works on these cars a lot.. Also pretty sure you need a specailty tool from Mitsubishi to be able to do it yourself..

Otherwise there is a guy on the www.3si.org forum in the parts for sale section that buys stealths/3000gts and parts them out.. Cant remember his name but its something like "mykiss****" something along those lines. So you can look though there.. Usually has something like 12 car partout title or something..
Hope that helps a little.

Thanks Everyone!

I'll be undertaking the T-belt job in a little while. Seems the wife has this crazy idea about buying a new house.

I did get the headlights from the link Sweet Stealth posted and for a great price. Much thanks SS!!!

Now, anyone need a driverside headlight for a 94 Stealth? You see, I only need one, but had to buy both.

Cool, glad to see you got what you needed.. I figured you would need to buy both. But there is a possiblity you could put the other one on ebay or hold onto it..

Roger that!

I had been thinking the same thing. Sadly I keep running into this morality issue. You see, I could probably sell the one for more then I paid for both. To me that just seems like I was using the Gentlemen that sold me the two for such a great price. While he did seem to have good knowledge of the car, and the true value of the parts, it seemed like he really wanted to help folks afford parts that may have been other wise unattainable. I just cannot bring myself to make money off that kind of person. I think I’ll just sit on it till someone else (sorry ) finds them self in need.
