I'm Mustang Illiterate...

But what exactly does the SVT on a mustang mean?

I saw one of the 6 cyls. with SVT written on a stripe along the bottom rocker panel... and I only thought they put SVT on Cobras... Someone enlighten me?

Special Vehicle Team

Anyone can put a sticker on their car. SVT Mustangs are all V-8's though.

Re: I'm Mustang Illiterate...

SVT is Special Vehicles Team.

SVT currently makes the Ford Mustang Cobra, Ford F150 Lightning, and SVT Focus.

They have made, in the past, a v6 3.5L Duratec Contour (98-00), a pre-blown Lightning (93-95), and non-supercharged Cobras (93-99, 01), with the more powerful R sibling (93, 95, 00).

It says SVO on the sideskirts that you get with the side exhaust kit.

SVO stands for Special Vehicle Operations I believe. There nice, rare vehicles if you can find em, but they were only made as late as 1986. Theres a black 94-98 Stang around here with SVO badges on the sideskirts. Yeah they're fake, oh well, but the car does look nice.

Re: I'm Mustang Illiterate...

Actually the SVO's from 84 to 86 were 2.3L turbos. They put out 190 HP.
