13 sec type r

hi i am planning to buy a 2001 integra type r in 2 weeks and i want to get into the 13's or lower to kill my american muscle car family, they all drive chevy's . i dont want to break into the block but i plan on port/polishing 3 angle valve job and doing maybe skunk 2 cams retainers valve springs, also skunk2 intake manifold. also a aem v2 intake and dc header unless you guys have a better one. and a perfomance exhaust with a chipped ecu. bigger injectors and fuel rail and msd ignition. smog isnt a concern since i live in salem oregon so i wanted to turbo but not with that compression and s/c i heard suck so maybe N/A also will the stock motor take a 50 shot of nitrous with high compression??? also will the 50 shot with I/H/E and slicks put me into the 13's? also doesnt usdm type r come with lsd??? so if anyone out there is running 13's or better in their type r without changing the stock block let me know what you did to get there thanks ...

p.s. it wont have heavy speaker boxes to help push me faster and probably wont have anything else in the trunk

afaik, compression ratio doesn't play much of a role when spraying. you could be using a 50:1 (just a figure) ratio if you wanted. You just have to make sure that the mixture is correct to prevent any problems.

I could be wrong though...can anyone else speak on this? i'm not exactly the authority on nitrous..

my friend and coworker has a 13.3 sec turbo type-r. catually it is a gsr engine in a type-r chassis with a type-r tranny. he has a t3/t4 turbo, front mount, 8.8:1 compression and other moderate block work. other than that there isn't much done to it and he ran a 13.3 at 110 on street tires

Re: 13 sec type r

Ok man 1st please don't put nitrous on a type R. Also the skink 2 manifold will be the biggest waste of money b/c all it is is a replica of the ITR manifold but it will fit other B series motors. You need to get away from all the hype of the big name brands, all most of them are is alot of advertising. Go to teamintegra.com and read up on some of the performane articles there they have alot of helpful info for deciding on which parts to buy etc.

Re: 13 sec type r

the skunk 2 intake manifold is really only helpful on the gsr (b18c1) motor because that intake manifold stoick is very restrictive. i think on the typer just doing a little head work and bigger throttle body will be good enough

Honestly if you want a 13 second car, dont buy an ITR. (thus you not wanting to "open up the block")

If you want to beat the American Muscle, Buy American Muscle, its the cheapeast way.

What you have to understand about the ITR, is its based off the LS, and based off the Ls is the GSR, its a finely tuned GSR. Thing you have to understand is, modding it with "IHE" wont do much because the stock stuff is decent enough. Thats how they got from 170hp GSR to the 195 ITR. You wont get into 13s unless you S/C, Turbo, Nitrous. Which i think is stupid because the ITR in itself is a cool car. Do some boltons if you want and so forth but that thing isnt hitting 13 seconds if you wont "open up the block".

Solution : Turbo car, or American Muscle .

type r intake manifold will NOT bolt up to the gsr head.
if you stay all motor-- get the skunk2 IM
JG is best for FI applications(like turdbo,s/c)

Here is some good reading for you.

3-4g's will get a gsr into 13's EASILY!!
