Real difference between minime's?

I was thinking, and we all know what happens when we think....

How much of a power difference would there be between using a d15 block with a z6 head or a d16a block with a z6 head? Is the .1 liters a real big thing? also do different d16 blocks produce difference power with the same head on em? f/e a y8 (?) block with a z6 head (obd I on obdII block)?

Re: Real difference between minime's?

I'm not sure if its a big difference with the .1 liter, but more of the fact that the 1.6l come with mpfi and a diff cam on the d16a6, i think.

ya, the d16a6 does have a more aggresive cam then the 1.5 does, but that doesnt really have anything to do with the block. I am not possitive, but the blocks may have a difference in pistons, that is the only thing i can think of that might be different.

Re: Real difference between minime's?

There would be diffent compression ratios due to the different blocks, plus d16a6 has a much stronger bottom end than that of the d15b2

So would it be worth the 150-200 bucks for a d16a to replace the d15 in a hatch std, if plans down the line include a minime conversion?

d series blocks carry the same 75mm pistons, difference is in the stroke. IMO want vtec go with a z6 or y8.

1.5 and 1.6 out of 4g civ's have the same bore and same size piston its just the 1.6 has different stroke. and different compression, giving it more hp

actually the 1.5 piston pin is located 3mm higher than the 1.6. in reality u couldnt use 1.6 pistons in a 1.5 without modifyin rod length or deck height.

Re: Real difference between minime's?

1.5 pistons are flat tops. a d16z6 head will have higher compression if you put it on the 1.5L block. a destroked 1.6L (1.5L) has the ability to sustain revs better.

Re: Real difference between minime's?

If you are going to bother doing a swap, just go with a full z6 or y8 swap (if you want SOHC VTEC) then you know what you've got
