From what I hear, theyre kinda a bitch, more time consuming than anything, but I've never done it myself, so I dont really know, it could be a 5 min job for all I really know.

you absolutely positive the head isnt warped? I mean, its not as simple as plopping the head on a flat counter to see if it raises up off it anywhere. anything over .002" can be bad. It could be warped between cylinders where they are closest together. Thats where mine warped. Im just saying, you better be real positive the head isnt warped before you possibly waste a bunch of time and money on new rings.

yea dude you really need to make sure thats within the specs. i think the haynes manual said to get a ruler and slide a peice of paper under it to check for any warping. or something like that.

You need to take the head to a machine shop, they will check and resurface the head, with tolerances like that, I'd like to have someone who knows what they're doing check it. As for the rings, it can be time consuming, or it can be quick. It all depends on how easily the old rings pop out, but if you scratch a piston digging at the rings, you have to replace it. When the pistons are out, check the block for scratches. Run your fingernail accross any potential scratches, if the scratch doesnt catch you nail, then it probably wont burn oil. (thats not always true, but it gives you a good idea).
