Actually I found a guy who will get me a 3HIW-TAI... the high-performance 3-hamster wheel with turbo adrenaline injection. :sun:

It's a 91 DX. Short term plans (within 3 months, hopefully) will be a b18a swap. Long term plans will include boost, and lots of it. There's going to be a lot of interior and body work after the engine swap though.

Btw, if you need help with your ZC install let me know. I've done one d16z6 swap into a CRX by myself, and helped with a ZC swap into a 90 Civic, which is basically the same thing.

So far.. rear disc brake swap, ground control coilovers, tokico illuminas, rear strut bar, 15" rota slipstreams, misc body work, stripped out all the interior (except dash).

I'm keeping my eye out for a Si, preferably 90-91. With the DX I have, there's enough frame damage that it's never going to line up properly again. The whole thing doesn't feel right, even with all the suspension stuff I've put in. And every time we go in to mod something or fix something, we find something else wrong. So I want to find something better, preferably the Si because I like having the sunroof in SoCal... tho I suppose I would take anything as long as the price is right. The body has to be totally straight though. Other than that, it doesn't even need to have an engine or interior, since I'm changing all that anyways. Hopefully I'll be able to find something at a good price.

Yeah. The laws are kind of shaky when it comes to JDM engines. Make sure you have all your emissions equipment. Also clean up the engine as much as you can. Cleaning the inside of the throttle body and intake manifold, making sure your injectors are clean, using new plugs and wires, etc, all will help your emissions.

Whether you'll pass or not is really up to the ref. There are provisions in Cali law that allow for JDM replacement engines, but they're all written such that the ref can deny you if he feels like it.

Basically make sure your engine runs clean, and try and find a ref who's cool about JDM engines. Ask people who have done JDM swaps and find out who they went to. Also, I think that Cali law allows you to take a pre-test if you're not sure if you'll pass, and it's a lot cheaper (maybe even free, don't remember). Do that first to save yourself some money in case you don't pass.

well... I'm not positive that the ref you go to will pass you. But I am positive that there are refs out there that will pass a jdm engine. You just need to find the right ref.
