buzzing..rattling..roaring kinda noise

the noise i attempted to describe in my title occurs when my car (95 GSR, ~110000mi) is revved in the 3k-3800rpm range or so, regardless of the gear. I seem to remember reading something about something like this earlier..exhaust manifold cover or something. Anyways, the point is, i don't remember. If someone could point me in the right direction, i'd appreciate it.

my heat shield above my CAT was rattleing against the cat and exhaust.. and I could feel it in my shifter too...

I simply cut the edge off my heat shield... problem solved!

Ditto. Just remember not to park in any tall grass if you take off the heat shield.. that or anything else flammable that can touch your cat (while it's hot) will catch fire!!

if it is the heat shield you could try taking it to a muffler shop and get them to tack weld it down. Might be easier than having to worry about things under your car catching on fire!

That’s true. But I have heard tales (actual true tales, by the way) of heat shields being welded, only to find that the noise persisted. The heat shields were then removed. Just something to keep in mind…

I had the same problem for 2 different problems one was a bad A pipe the other was the heat sheild. Right between 3K and 3.5K you would hear that annoying rattling. I went through 3 A pipes while under warranty and as soon as the warranty was through( luckily I had a 7 year warranty), I got a full stainless exhaust and headers from Comptech so I wouldn't have those problems again.
