swaping a tt engine into a na

My Cousin has 1990 NA 5 speed 300ZX. He wants to have a twin turbo engine the cheapest way possible. What route should he go by, and how much is he looking to spend. Also if he is going to need to swap engines what will he need, ie Engine, trans, ECU etc. THanks for your time.

Gezz-uz! How many times is this question gonna be asked??? It's way expensive, son! I wanted to do the same conversion but I was looking at anywhere from $7,000-$10,000 including installation... you are better off saving up and buying a stock TWIN TURBO!

I have now decided to go with a nitous oxide unit... all I need is new/bigger injectors and an upgraded ECU and the kit. Probably cost a lil' over $2,000! And with this I will be up to par (or a lil' more) with a stock TwinTurbo!

Otherwise if you still want the Twin Turbo set-up, you should talk to Zoso who frequents this forum... I know you will need to swap out everything including trans, and ecu, etc.... search this forum and you may find your answer too....

Thanks bro, thats exactly wat i was thinking, I spoke with my cousin after posting and we agreed buying a twin turbo would be better. However most twin turbos are a bitch to maintain especially used ones with over a 100,000 miles. He decided to go ur route and modify his N/A...do u have n e reccomendations on that. OH yeah he was thinking about going Nitrous too.

Well, I do not have the NOS system yet! But if I were you guys I'd buy a Cold Air intake, bigger injectors, ECU and exhaust 'cus you are gonna need these before you can run her (FAIRLADY) on the laughing gas anyhow. STILLEN carries all these parts and JIM WOLF TECHNOLOGY has some and so does ULTIMATEZ.com. Just search around for what suits you! Let me know how it goes! I probably will not get mine done for awhile still... ($$$) Check out my web-page and leave your E-MAIL in my GUESTBOOK so I can keep in touch with you! I'm really excited for you guys!

Re: swaping a tt engine into a na

Hey bro, I can get you the Twin Turbo clip 5speed for $3,000 shipped imported and all. Its not all that hard to do the conversion if you have the time, and tools... i.e cherry picker, correct tool fittings etc. But basicallyt what a clip is, is the car was wrecked in the back, so they took a plasma cutter and sliced it in half, and sell the front. Includes engine, trans, wiring, ECU/M, dash RHD (right hand drive) set-up, tubing... Everything. Its not all that hard of a swap, heres a usefull site concerning the swap. Peace

Re: swaping a tt engine into a na

Yea Via's got the idea. Go with a good wet system, TT MAF, 550cc injectors, Stillen headers, Injen intake system... That should put you up there HP wise. peace

Re: swaping a tt engine into a na

Won't my cuzin need a better fuel pump and maybe like a A'PEXi S-AFC once he gets the nitrous. And what kind of shot will he be able to use with the mods u have listed?

Re: swaping a tt engine into a na

I'm sure the fuel-pump will be fine... but you can always change that for the better. I'm not sure if there is a company that makes an upgraded fuel-pump for the Z... maybe a TT or SKYLINE fuel-pump will deliver better fuel? But I'm sure the stock pump should suffice... ZOSO? A fuel management system wouldn't hurt... but I don't think that is required either. STILLEN has a NOS kit that puts out 70HP for $600... if you want the 100shot you will have to swap out your internals...
